From the time of the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution in Europe, a general idea grew that the growth of scientific knowledge, followed by technological development led inevitably to Progress, almost as a law of nature.
This article expands on the concept of technology, including in it other components than physical objects. Such components, especially economic power and political ideologies, play an overwhelming role on the form in which technology develops and the nature of society is changed. |
