Summary:The subject of analysis of this paper is the scientific contribution of Manuel Amoroso Costa (1885-1928) to development of University Mathematics in Brazil. He was disciple of Otto de Alencar Silva (1874-1912), the first Brazilian mathematician that made criticisms on mathematical works of A. Comte (1798-1857) [Cf. SILVA, Clóvis Pereira da, 1995]. M. Amoroso Costa was the main disciple of Otto de Alencar who continued the work of renovation studies of University Mathematics in Brazil, initiated by his master.
