description The article analyzes the regional challenges of vocational training in its task of closing the gap between supply and demand of skills, and in its effort to prepare the next generations of workers for the future demands of work. For this, a context is defined that explains the need to innovate in the pedagogical and didactic field, dedicating a space to identify which are the competences that constitute said gap and proposing methodological innovations necessary to face the challenge. Finally, a tour of the potential impacts of changes in training systems is made, summarizing the key points and including suggestions. In such a context, the concept of "project-based learning" will usually be used, but understood as part of a family of methodologies with a common theoretical base.
