| description | The income of the livestock companies producing both meat and milk largely depends on the reproductive capacity of their cows to produce a calf every 12-14 months. Long periods without ovarian activity (Anestrum) postpartum, have a negative impact on the income of the producers; hence, tools must be found to shorten the interval between parturition and next conception (IPC). The objective of this study was to evaluate two (2) hormonal protocols (Progestogens-P4 and GnRH) and temporary interruption of breastfeeding for 48 hours, in multiparous cows, in post-partum early lactation and as a tool to induce ovarian activity and subsequent artificial insemination at fixed time (IATF). This research was located in three (3) of the six (6) municipalities of the Bajo Cauca Antioqueño subregion (Caucasia, Cáceres and Nechí) where 18 farms and 390 cows were randomly selected, which were divided into three groups at random in each of these farms. The first group (1) was treated with hormones based on Progestogens (P4), group 2 with GnRH and group three without hormonal treatment (control). We achieved pregnancies of 39.31 percent for a total of 173 cows synchronized with the Progestogen Protocol (P4), for protocol 2 GnRH was 6.06 percent and the control group (85 cows), the pregnancy was 3.51 %. An alternative to induce estrus in anestrics cows and with poor body condition is through the use of hormonal protocols based on P4. |
