Description
Summary:This article presents an overview about reading and writing research, from the identification of deficiencies diagnosed by Saber Pro and PISA tests. The purpose is to identify how teaching of reading and writing has become a key component in the educational context of the last ten years in Colombia. The methodology used to develop this article is typical of a documentary exploratory study about academic research in this field in SENA and universities. The study leads to the conclusion that despite the existing need, there are virtually nonexistent research documents conducted by SENA on these issues regarding to technical and technological training. In the universities level, research is primarily focused to diagnose the deficiencies of students in the processes of comprehension and production of written texts and to establish relationships between literacy skills and learning. For SENA and for universities, research in the field of literacy are nowadays a challenge and a necessity, given the huge students gaps.
