description The coffee husk is one of the agricultural crops available in La Guajira, whose residual material contains an energy value as a source of mitigation of fossil fuels. In this research, an exergetic and economic evaluation was carried out from the analysis of the characteristics of the coffee husk as a sustainable source of biomass. A documentary review was conducted focused on the thermoeconomic analysis of the coffee husk, considering the methodologies used in energy generation. The study demonstrated that the coffee husk is a primary source of biomass energy, concluding that it is a sustainable alternative with high calorific value and that it can be used as a strategy in the potential reduction of the negative effects on the impacted natural resources.
