description This article critically analyzes the experiences of Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) of Cooperativa Especializada de Ahorro y Crédito, Crediservir from Ocaña, Norte de Santander, Colombia, during four years (2015-2018). Firstly, Corporate Social Responsibility actions of Crediservir are characterized based on the principles of the United Nations Global Compact, then, the CSR lines which generate the most visibility and impact in the municipality of Ocaña and the region are determined, and the weaknesses and strengths of the cooperative are established according to their environmental, economic, and social practices. A qualitative methodology is applied through a case study. In particular, the documentary research, in-depth interview, and SWOT analysis methods are applied. Results and conclusions indicate that the Cooperative advances towards accomplishing some aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility, mainly in the environmental area, which allows for the development of a competitive advantage in comparison to other organizations of the same nature and for the consolidation of its image and corporate identity.
