description The objective of this study is to describe the psychosocial factors that influenced the involvement and disengagement of children, adolescents, and adults in armed groups in Colombia between 2008 and 2016. The methodology is qualitative, with a descriptive phenomenological design. The sample is made up of 154 participants. The sampling is non-probabilistic case-type. Interviews were used for data recollection. The analysis of the descriptive data was carried out using frequency diagrams and interviews analysis in the Atlas.Ti software (V9) through the open coding process. The categories of attachment were economic, family, ideological and psychological, finding 14 factors. The disengagement categories were economic, family, ideological, health, government benefits, mistreatment and psychological, finding 10 factors. It is concluded that the psychosocial factors that affect attachment are lack of income and deception, and the factors that affect disengagement are fear of losing one's life and demotivation. The results will contribute to future research aimed at analyzing whether the psychosocial factors associated with involvement in and disengagement from armed groups from 2017 onwards continue to be similar or different from those presented in this study.
