| description | Industry 4.0 and its associated technologies, such as industrial internet of things, big data and data analysis, additive manufacturing or 3D printing, advanced robotics, augmented and virtual reality, cloud computing, physical cybernetic systems, simulation and modelling, cybersecurity , machine learning and artificial intelligence and Blockchain technology, smart factory among others, are impacting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and the development of new business models suitable for facilitating the digitization of systems and operations provide enormous opportunities for SMEs. These advanced technologies allow vertical and horizontal integration (from supplier to customer) from end to end of the supply chain, in real time, impacting the quality of service. SMEs shorten their path to customers by joining digital collaboration platforms and collectively meeting customer needs. To exploit the full potential of Industry 4.0, the new business models of SMEs must innovate their strategy in terms of value creation, value capture and value offering so that the benefits of new technologies are not limited to unique apps. |
