Description
Summary:An evaluation on the operation of a photovoltaic solar system installed at SENA, Centro de Diseño e Innovación Tecnológica Industrial was carried out in Dosquebradas, Risaralda, Colombia. The system was installed in July 2022 and started operating on August 9, 2022, with the purpose of reducing the energy consumption of the edification by 40% influencing in the reduction of the electricity bill.   The study aimed to evaluate the operation of the grid-connected photovoltaic solar system from the beginning of the solar system operation until November 30, 2022. For this purpose, there were implemented monitoring, digitization, and analysis of the data generated by the photovoltaic solar system in order to be compared with the charges in the billing periods, identifying the contribution of the photovoltaic solar system and verifying the 40% reduction in the monthly electricity bill.   After analyzing the information and comparing the data generated by the photovoltaic solar system with the billing periods, it was identified that in August, the solar system contributed 13.14% of the total monthly consumption. In September, the solar system contributed 7.07% of the total monthly consumption. In October, the solar system contributed 19.05% of the total monthly consumption. In November, the solar system contributed 9.55% of the total monthly consumption. There were identified issues in the design of the photovoltaic solar system that caused disconnection of the inverters from the grid as well as loss of data for monitoring the system operation. Based on the performance evaluation of the photovoltaic solar panel system, it is determined that modifications and adjustments need to be made to meet the initial objective set for the solar system.
