The increased volume of traffic in the capital cities of the world, coupled with the strong urban pressure and the need to preserve the environment, has led to public bodies to look at knowledge management and urban logistics as a basic tool competitiveness of the whole city. The distribution of goods, known worldwide as city or urban logistics has become an important segment of activity to be managed and affects transversely both to the administration and to the private company to which this aspect repre­sents an important part of their logistics costs and the level of customer service.
