Surgical procedures that require total sedation of the patient are controlled by general anesthesia machines, whose operation and maintenance demand a high degree of responsibility from both the anesthesiologist and the technician in charge of their daily inspection and maintenance. Currently, much of the equipment used for teaching in the healthcare field lacks a pedagogical-didactic approach, making it difficult to understand the complex systems involved.
Didactic equipment includes a number of interrelated systems that mirror the components of an actual anesthesia machine, such as medical gas sources, CO2 eliminators, anesthetic delivery panels, inhalation and exhalation systems, gas sweep systems, and pneumatic systems with valves and alarms. These components are essential for the effective teaching of anesthesia machine operation and maintenance. In addition, the project also emphasizes the importance of preventive and corrective maintenance of biomedical equipment in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. |
