| Summary: | The world's seaports play a fundamental role in the decarbonization of the global economy, being key logistics-commercial nodes within the global supply chain and drivers of the global value chain. In this context, the International Maritime Organization has adopted a resolution urging ports to encourage voluntary cooperation with the shipping industry to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ships. In the coming decades, seaports are expected to become energy centers of international relevance. This change will imply that port administrations and terminal operators work together on the expansion of infrastructure, the modernization of equipment and the implementation of disruptive technologies associated with Industry 4.0. These actions will be aimed at mitigating global climate change and facilitating the energy transition. This, with the aim of powering port equipment, supplying and exporting “Bunker Green” to new technology ships that call on its coasts. A modern seaport is a port that meets current environmental requirements: “Zero Emissions” indisputably the “Heart of the Energy Transition”. The concept involves the implementation of an intelligent, highly efficient energy supply system, from renewable sources, friendly to the environment, devoid of GHG emissions. |
