Nowadays, artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms have been developed that focus on machine learning models based on databases in which patterns and relationships between variables are identified or thereby generating a design base of descriptive and predictive analytical models.
In this article, a bibliographic and conceptual review is made about machine learning algorithms and their applications in the academic sector and then present the initial stage (descriptive analysis) and its associated partial results of the project developed by students of the specialization in Artificial Intelligence belonging to the research hotbed Predictive Models Focused on the Execution and Improvement of Academic Results of the Minuto de Dios University Corporation.
The project focuses on the development of predictive models with machine learning algorithms focused on improving the academic performance of students from different Higher Education Institutions (IES), taking as reference the results of the SABER – PRO tests provided by the Institute.
