| Abstract: |
The article discusses research to improve the properties of shellac by blending with epoxidised novolac resin for its use as coating material for metal surfaces. Topics discussed include synthesis of phenol formaldehyde (Novolac) resin by reaction of phenol with formaldehyde under acidic condition; blending of shellac with epoxidised novolac resin in solvent mixture of butanol and toluene and determination of coating and mechanical properties. |
