| Abstract: |
Graduate students provide innovative talent in engineering technology. An effective way to improve their training quality is the joint university–enterprise training (JUET); however, research is lacking about the process and its effects. This paper examines the training practices of Chinese engineering graduate students (EGS). Based on a systematic literature review and meta-analysis, considering the process theory, this study constructs a theoretical model whereby JUET influences the innovation ability of EGS. The model explores how individual, university, and enterprise characteristics influence the innovation ability of EGS. The findings show that JUET contains three dimensions – enterprise internship practice, research project cooperation, and university–enterprise joint guidance. The existing studies focus on academic and practical innovation abilities. However, JUET has a significant positive impact on the innovation ability of EGS, with significant differences based on enterprise type, enterprise size, university type, and industry type.
