The increase in the use of renewable energy, such as wind power, has a significant impact on the stable operation of the power system and presents challenges for frequency modulation (FM). Therefore, a load frequency control (LFC) method with cooperation of wind turbine generator (WTG) and battery energy storage system (BESS) with dynamic adjustment participation is proposed. Firstly, a multi-area interconnected LFC model with WTG and BESS is constructed, FM demand and the rules of WTG and BESS cooperation are analyzed. Then, due to the temporal and spatial differences in frequency representation, an enhanced control link (ECL) with areal disturbance identification (ADI) is designed, in order to more targeted FM measures adopt for different areas. In addition, considering the coupling relationship between FM effects and wind power costs, BESS cycle life, and carbon emissions, a multi-objective optimization problem is designed to optimize the comprehensive benefits of FM. The simulation results show that compared with traditional control methods, the proposed control method can more fully utilize the FM capability of BESS. It achieves an optimal balance among indicators such as FM effectiveness, cost, and BESS cycle life, ensuring the maximum overall benefits of frequency regulation in the power system.
