| Abstract: |
This article examines how privacy policies can better engender trust through revised language, content and presentation. Recommendations are in response to research showing Web merchants in particular are challenged by consumers' reluctance to supply personal information for fear of unsolicited email and spam. Research shows the privacy policies posted on Websites can heighten concerns rather than allay them, so the author helps identify weaknesses in policies using examples and presenting a chart breaking down the concerns and coverage of privacy issues with suggested fixes. |
