Abstract: The article focuses on enhancing reading instruction for all learners, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, by acknowledging the importance of cultural competence and evidence-based practices. Topics include exploring the role of culture in reading comprehension; implementing culturally sustaining teaching practices; and empowering all learners to engage meaningfully with texts and unlock their full potential to support the reading development of students from diverse backgrounds.
