Abstract: The article reports on the movement to end the teaching of sewing in different public schools in France. A group of professor attacked the Minister of Public Instruction declaring that other matters of instruction are more important than sewing. However, the department of instruction is insisting that the study of sewing is an essential part of learning. Contests are often held and prizes are awarded for students who have the neatest work.
