| Abstract: |
This article discusses the history, methodology, and teacher training for accelerated learning programs. The programs are structured to enable students to take courses and earn credits in a shorter period of time than the traditional 16-week semester and therefore require teachers to use alternatives to semester-based formats. Current research and theory on accelerated learning is offered with practical suggestions as to how educators can provide an effective learning experience. The non-traditional teaching methods of Georgi Lozanov which included the use of music, meditation, and a variety of visual and auditory techniques helped lead to holistic learning, using left brain and right brain abilities and what is now called accelerated learning, which saves time and money in training. |
