Abstract: The article offers information that organizers of the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has opened applications and nominations for the 2010 National Medal for Museum and Library Service that will be held on February 16. IMLS will honor five museums and five libraries including special, academic and public libraries that make significant contributions to their communities. Mamie Bittner, deputy director of the Office of Policy, Planning, Research and Communication for IMLS, states that the applications demonstrate extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service and community outreach programs in association with libraries and museums. Moreover, a list for the 2009 National Medal winners for libraries is presented.
