Abstract: A condensed reprint of the article "Weighing Wellness Initiatives: Having a Policy Isn't Enough" by Alice Armstrong, from the March/April 2010 "The Illinois School Board Journal," is presented. The article discusses the enactment of wellness policies by school districts in order to curb the rise of childhood obesity in the United States. The author believes that enacting wellness policies does not go far enough in actually reducing childhood obesity rates.
