Abstract: The article describes the educational methods of Clear Horizons Early College High School in Houston Texas, including teacher mentoring, allowing students to take community college courses, and reviewing transcripts with the students. The authors, who are administrators at the school, claim that early college high schools prepare students for college and careers by setting high academic goals, analyzing academic achievement, and helping students write college applications. Clear Horizons is part of the San Jacinto College South campus, a community college in Houston. The school also encourages parental participation in students' education and helps students keep track of deadlines, which the authors claim is an important job skill.
