| Abstract: | The paper presents the results of verification for the main modules of the MHFS (Marine Hindcast and Forecast System) technology developed at the Zubov State Oceanographic Institute and adapted to reproduce the hydrometeorological characteristics of the Kerch Strait with a high spatial resolution. The MHFS includes the INMOM Russian sea circulation model. The atmospheric forcing for this model was calculated either using the WRF nonhydrostatic atmospheric model or the ERA5 European atmospheric reanalysis. The accuracy of wind reproduction has been assessed using the data from the Kerch hydrometeorological station. The analysis has shown that the most accurate results of the INMOM calculations are achieved when using the results of the WRF forecast calculations. This leads to the conclusion that practical calculations require special attention to atmospheric forcing data, whose higher accuracy and resolution are extremely important for successful reproduction of sea circulation parameters.
