| Abstract: |
A procedural manual for manpower training staff constitutes the first section of this book. The manual has two basic purposes: (1) to help the staff recognize the major problems experienced by socially disadvantaged adult trainees who are aspiring toward greater social and financial success, and (2) to provide the staff with a range of practical methods for helping trainees cope with these problems. The second section of this book contains a transcript of a taped interview in which three administrators of one of the major manpower training programs in the country give the reader a unique opportunity to observe some of their concerns, difficulties, explanations, and rationalizations. In the third section, entitled "Training of Manpower Training Personnel," an educator is challenged to propose an outline of an optimal training program for operating and administrative staff. The afterword discusses personal qualms and confusions developed in dealing with the larger social context. A subject index is provided. (Author/CK) |
