| Abstract: | In response to the dynamics of higher education (HE) across the globe, international joint-degree training programmes (JPs), have been increasingly promoted within Vietnam's national strategies to internationalize its HE system. The complexities in governance, coupled with the proliferation of JPs over the last decades, have prompted more stringent quality assurance (QA) measures by all involved stakeholders at a system-wide level. Practical insights into the operationalization of JPs and their pertinent QA issues in Vietnam will provide timely acumen for policy-making and programme implementation in the post-pandemic era, fostering resilience against potential future crises. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive account of JPs as an exemplar of the transnational higher education (TNE) model within the Vietnamese HE system. First, it introduces the contemporary landscape of JPs in Vietnamese HE by illustrating its core components. Then, it illuminates the mechanisms that underpin internal and external systems of QA for JPs. Additionally, the chapter will address current challenges in QA and quality management of JPs in the Vietnamese context, including those arising from the global pandemic's repercussions. Grounded in a critical analysis of documents and recent literature, this chapter highlights the positionality of TNE and JPs in the expansion of Vietnamese HE. Practical implications are also identified for Vietnam in its dual role as an international education importer and emerging education hub within the region.
