| Abstract: | The "IDRA Newsletter" serves as a vehicle for communication with educators, school board members, decision-makers, parents, and the general public concerning the educational needs of all children across the United States. The focus of this issue is "Community Voices Matter." Contents include: (1) Dear colleagues, family and friends: A Message from Dr. María "Cuca" Robledo Montecel, IDRA President Emerita; (2) Coalitions Represent Communities across the U.S. South; (3) Legislature Dances the Texas Three-Step: Defund, Demonize, Privatize Public Education (Kaci Wright and Vivek Datla); (4) Policy Whiplash in Georgia: 2025 Session Delivered Education Gains, Losses and Looming Threats (Terrence Wilson, Mikayla Arciaga, DeAndrea Byrd, Isabelle Philip, and Makiah Lyons); and (5) Civic Changemakers -- Students and Advocates Join Forces at the Georgia Capitol (Isabelle Philip). |
