| Abstract: |
The Title I program in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) utilizes federal funds to provide supplemental services and resources to schools with a high proportion of low-income students. This diagnostic study conducted by the Data, Research, and Accountability (DRA) department provides an overview of the definition and purpose of Title I programs and a description of the eligibility criteria for funding. It focuses on how eligibility thresholds, per-pupil spending, and budget allotments have evolved over the past five years. Key outcomes are presented for pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic periods. This report also describes the types of Title I models in WCPSS and the student and teacher demographics in Title I schools. It examines the implementation of the goals and priorities of the Title I program along with findings related to key outcomes over the past seven years (e.g., academic performance metrics and student and teacher perceptions). Finally, the report explains notable changes to WCPSS Title I funding in the 2024-25 school year and considers the future directions of the program. |
