Abstract: This study investigated the mediating effects of spirituality and cognitive emotion regulation on the relationship between Korean school counselors' developmental levels and their burnout. Through an online survey, data were collected from 229 school counselors across Korea, assessing their levels of cognitive emotion regulation, development level, burnout, and spirituality. The findings suggest that developmental levels and spirituality are negatively related to burnout, while cognitive emotion regulation (less adaptive) strategies are positively related. Spirituality and cognitive emotional regulation (more adaptive) significantly mediated the effect of counselors' development on their burnout, thereby underscoring the importance of these factors in mitigating burnout risk. Our research highlights the need for interventions aimed at enhancing spirituality and adaptive emotional regulation among counselors.
