Objectives: The objective was to synthesize the main characteristics of educational programs based on contact with nature and their impacts on students, given that although the benefits of this education have been studied, little is known about the specific characteristics of programs implemented in school contexts. Materials and methods: The review was conducted following the guidelines of the PRISMA statement. ERIC, Google Scholar, Scielo, and Redalyc databases were used, covering studies from 2016 to March 2024. A total of 11 studies analyzing school programs involving 605 students were included. Results: Most of the programs reviewed were 60 minutes in duration per session, with a daily or weekly frequency, and ranged from one to three weeks. The programs took place primarily in natural settings such as backyards, forests, and parks. The main activities included natural environment exploration, flora and fauna identification, and greenhouse activities. These interventions were mainly implemented by teachers in the school context. Results indicated positive effects on both connections to nature and students' academic performance. Conclusions: The findings highlight the importance of integrating nature contact programs into school education to foster greater student connection with their natural environment. Although more research is needed in this area, the results suggest that these interventions can contribute significantly to students' personal and academic development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Objetivos: El objetivo fue sintetizar las principales características de los programas educativos basados en el contacto con la naturaleza y sus impactos en los estudiantes, dado que, aunque se han estudiado los beneficios de esta educación, se conoce poco sobre las características específicas de los programas implementados en contextos escolares. Materiales y métodos: La revisión se llevó a cabo siguiendo las pautas de la declaración PRISMA. Se utilizaron las bases de datos ERIC, Google Académico, Scielo y Redalyc, abarcando estudios desde 2016 hasta marzo de 2024. Se incluyeron un total de 11 estudios que analizaron programas escolares en los que participaron 605 estudiantes. Resultados: La mayoría de los programas revisados tuvo una duración de 60 minutos por sesión, con una frecuencia diaria o semanal, y se extendieron de una a tres semanas. Los programas se desarrollaron principalmente en entornos naturales, como patios, bosques y parques. Las actividades principales incluyeron la exploración de entornos naturales, la identificación de flora y fauna, y actividades en invernaderos. Estas intervenciones fueron implementadas principalmente por docentes en el contexto escolar. Los resultados indicaron efectos positivos tanto en la conexión con la naturaleza como en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes. Conclusiones: Los hallazgos destacan la importancia de integrar programas de contacto con la naturaleza en la educación escolar para fomentar una mayor conexión de los estudiantes con su entorno natural. Aunque se requiere más investigación en este campo, los resultados sugieren que estas intervenciones pueden contribuir significativamente al desarrollo personal y académico de los estudiantes.
