| Abstract (English): | This article explores the intense psychological effects of compulsive Internet use, which has become increasingly common among adolescent boys and young men. Two cases are presented and discussed to illustrate some of the psychic distortions around thinking and feeling, as these occurred in the analysis of a mid-adolescent boy and of another patient in later adolescence. A kind of narcissistic omnipotence grounded in magical thinking appeared to take root in their minds, and it led to an avoidant pattern in relationships because of such strong wishes for both distance and control. A short review of the conceptual origins of magical thinking underscores its continued relevance because so many now engage with the Internet. In addition, Anzieu's idea of the 'skin ego' is applied to the clinical case material to provide a theoretical framework for the developmental challenges that can appear in adolescent boys who seek to use the Internet as a form of psychic container. Emerging problems that immersion in the Internet might bring into our practices, for example the depleting effects of massive projective identification, are considered and discussed, along with the obvious ways in which using the Internet can be beneficial for connecting with others, for creating new platforms of expression, and for education. | Abstract (Spanish): | El presente ensayo explora los intensos efectos psicológicos del uso compulsivo de Internet, el cual se ha vuelto cada vez más común entre varones adolescentes y hombres jóvenes. Se presentan y discuten dos casos para ilustrar algunas de las distorsiones psíquicas respecto del pensamiento y de las emociones, tal como estas sucedieron durante el análisis de un adolescente varón y en otro paciente en su adolescencia tardía. Cierta forma de omnipotencia narcisista enraizada en un modo de pensamiento mágico tiene lugar en sus mentes, conduciendo hacia un patrón evitativo de relación debido a los fuertes deseos de distancia y control al mismo tiempo. Una sintética revisión de los orígenes conceptuales del pensamiento mágico da cuenta de su continua relevancia observada en la cantidad de sujetos que se involucran hoy con Internet. Además, la noción del 'yo piel' de Anzieu () es aplicada al material clínico a modo de ofrecer un marco de referencia teórico a los desafíos en el desarrollo que pueden aparecer en varones adolescentes que buscan utilizar Internet a modo de contenedor psíquico. Se consideran los problemas emergentes que la inmersión en Internet pueden traer a nuestra práctica, como por ejemplo los efectos desgastantes de una identificación proyectiva masiva; así como también los modos en los cuales el uso de Internet puede ser beneficioso en la conexión con otros, y en la creación de nuevas plataformas de expresión y educación. | Abstract (French): | Translations of Abstract Cet article considère les fortes conséquences psychologiques de l'usage compulsif d'Internet, qui s'est énormément répandu chez les adolescents et les jeunes hommes. On discutera de deux cas présentés pour illustrer certaines des perversions psychiques de la pensée et du sentiment, telles qu'elles sont apparues dans l'analyse d'un jeune adolescent, ainsi que dans celle d'un adolescent plus âgé. Une forme de toute-puissance narcissique fondée sur la pensée magique semble s'enraciner dans leur esprit, et cela conduit à des comportements d'évitement dans les relations en raison d'un fort désir de contrôle et de distance dans le même temps. Une courte revue des origines conceptuelles de la pensée magique met en évidence sa pertinence pour tous ceux qui s'adonnent désormais à Internet. Par ailleurs, le concept de moi-peau d'Anzieu (, ) sera appliqué aux cas cliniques, afin de donner un cadre théorique aux enjeux du développement qui peuvent apparaître chez les adolescents garçons qui cherchent à utiliser Internet comme une forme de contenant psychique. | Abstract (German): | Dieser Artikel untersucht die intensiven psychischen Wirkungen zwanghafter Internetnutzung, wie sie unter heranwachsenden Jungen und jungen Männern zunehmend verbreitet ist. Zwei Fälle werden geschildert und diskutiert um einige der psychischen Entstellungen im Denken und Fühlen zu veranschaulichen, wie sie in den Analysen eines Jungen im mittleren Heranwachsen und eines Patienten während der späteren Adoleszenz auftraten. Eine Art narzißtischer Omnipotenz, gegründet in magischem Denken, trat auf, verwurzelte sich in ihrem Seelenleben und führte, wegen überstarker Wünsche nach sowohl Distanz als auch Kontrolle, zu Vermeidungsverhalten in realen Beziehungen. Ein kurzer Rückblich auf die konzeptuellen Ursprünge des magischen Denkens unterstreicht dessen fortlaufende Bedeutung für die Vielen, die sich heute in das Internet begeben. Desweiteren wird Anzieus Idee (1984, 1989) eines 'Haut-Selbst' mit klinischem Material in Beziehung gesetzt um einen theoretischen Rahmen für die entwicklungsmäßigen Herausforderungen bereit zu stellen, die bei heranwachsenden Jungen auftreten können, die das Internet als eine Art eines seelischen Containers zu benutzen versuchen. Entstehende Probleme, die in unsere Behandlungen gelangen und die sich durch das Internet vertiefen mögen (z.B. die entleerenden Effekte massiver projektiver Identifikation), werden ebenso betrachtet und diskutiert wie die augenfälligen Arten, auf denen die Benutzung des Internets vorteilbringend zur Kontaktaufnahme mit anderen, zum Aufbau neuer Ausdrucksplattformen und bei der Wissensgewinnung sein kann. | Abstract (Italian): | In questo articolo si esaminano gli intensi effetti psicologici di un uso compulsivo di Internet, uso che è diventato sempre più crescente fra i ragazzi adolescenti e i giovani adulti. Per illustrare alcune distorsioni psichiche a carico del pensiero e del sentimento, come si manifestarono durante l'analisi di un ragazzo nel mezzo della sua adolescenza e in un altro paziente nella tarda adolescenza, verranno presentati e discussi due casi. Una sorta di onnipotenza narcisistica radicata in un pensiero magico sembrò prendere radici belle loro menti e ciò portò a un comportamento di esitamento nelle relazioni per via di un forte desiderio di distanza e di controllo. Una breve analisi delle origini concettuali del pensiero magico sottolinea la sua continua importanza per quanti ora si impegnano con Internet. Per fornire un contenitore teorico per le sfide evolutive che possono apparire in ragazzi adolescenti che cercano di usare Internet come una forma di contenitore psichico, al materiale clinico del caso viene applicata l'idea di Anzieu () di un 'io pelle' . Vengono considerati e discussi i problemi che l'immersione in Internet fa emergere e che possono entrare poi nella nostra pratica, come, ad esempio, gli effetti deleteri di una identificazione proiettiva massiccia, insieme alle ovvie modalità per cui l'uso di Internet può essere benefico per connettersi con gli altri, per creare nuove forme di espressione e per l'educazione. | Abstract (Russian): | В статье исследуются интенсивные психологические последствия компульсивного использования Интернета, которое все больше и больше распространяется среди мальчиков-подростков и юношей. Описываются и обсуждаются два случая, иллюстрирующие некоторые психические искажения мышления и чувствования, вскрытые в анализе одного подростка и одного юноши. Некоторая разновидность нарциссического всемогущества, опирающегося на магическое мышление, похоже, пустила корни в их сознании, что привело к паттерну избегания отношений из-за сильной жажды одновременного дистанцирования и контролирования. Краткий обзор концептуальных истоков магического мышления подчеркивает его все продолжающуюся значимость для тех многих, кто сегодня увлечен Интернетом.
