Abstract: The psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) were evaluated at the six-week postnatal period. A shorter version, the EPDS-6, was found to offer an optimal fit to our data and provides a sound psychometric basis for the development of an abbreviated version of the tool which may offer enhanced screening and predictive utility.
