Abstract: This article discusses threat and direction of aggression. In the context of personal construct theory, it is postulated that the threatening individuals in a group are those persons most likely to induce the greatest changes in the core constructs of the other members in the group. The hypothesis is offered that such persons may be predicted from personality characteristics. As one possible consideration, the most threatening members of a socially oriented group should be those members with the greatest tendency to externalize or direct outwardly their aggression in frustrating situations.
