| Abstract: | This paper illustrates how the resolution of trauma can occur within the framework of a loving relationship using Emotionally Focused Therapy. Adult attachment and the biology of emotion reveal the interplay between partners' coping strategies (pursuers and withdrawers) and how these coping strategies escalate conflict between them just when they need each other the most. The therapist continues to narrate the process while tracking the depth of emotional experiencing using the Experiencing Scale. Couple learns together that sharing their inner pain turns pain and fear into adhesive for their bond and heals their trauma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
