| Abstract: | The article discusses the parameters of intensive family preservation services and of the Homebuilders model in the U.S. The Homebuilders model is one of several approaches to intensive family preservation practice for a description of a program relying on structural family therapy. It is difficult to examine the effectiveness of any social welfare programs because of their complexity and the difficulty of fielding experiments. The lack of knowledge of the net effect of Homebuilders-type programs is a serious gap in knowledge. Public child welfare practitioners continue to express concern regarding the safety of children in families in family preservation programs. |
