| Abstract: |
The article presents an analysis of works belonging to the jungle novel genre of Latin American literature, with a focus on the books "La vorágine" by Colombian author José Eustasio Rivera and "Canaima" by Venezuelan author Rómulo Gallegos. It is the author's view that the metaphoric images of the jungle as a feminine character in Rivera as well as the jungle as hell and paradise in Gallegos are both a representation of a duel between civilization and barbarism. |
