| Abstract (English): |
The article analyzes the relationship between power and development styles in Latin America from the perspective of Latin American structuralism, which understands economic development as a political economy of power, where structured productive power is the basis of economic value. It highlights that development styles reflect the historical forms of distribution of technical progress within a center-periphery system characterized by power asymmetries. Furthermore, it examines the transformations of capitalism in the 21st century, especially the new forms of power associated with digital capitalism and platform economies, which pose unprecedented challenges for peripheral development and require rethinking regional integration strategies. The text also addresses the importance of fictitious commodities (labor power, natural resources, and money) in the formation of value and distribution, and underscores the relevance of the structuralist approach to understanding the economic, political, and social dynamics of Latin America. Finally, it emphasizes that multidimensional regional integration remains a key objective to overcome dependency and promote autonomous development styles based on joint industrial productive power. A 50 años de su fundación, Revista CEPAL mantiene vigentes las categorías centrales propuestas por Raúl Prebisch y Aníbal Pinto en su número inaugural. En este artículo se vinculan los conceptos de poder y estilos de desarrollo, bajo la premisa de que el estructuralismo latinoamericano constituye esencialmente una economía política del poder, en la que el poder productivo estructurado es la sustancia del valor económico. Los estilos expresan las formas históricas de distribución de los frutos del progreso técnico según las relaciones de poder asimétricas en el sistema centro-periferia. Esta perspectiva se mantiene plenamente vigente en la actualidad y permite analizar el capitalismo del siglo XXI, en particular las nuevas formas de poder asociadas al capitalismo digital y las economías de plataforma, que plantean desafíos inéditos para el desarrollo periférico y exigen repensar las estrategias de integración regional.
