In fact, some important aspects of his scientific life in Spain since 1827 until 1836 have been forgotten.
In order to rescue this not well known figure of Spanish science, this article pays attention to Casaseca's professional activity in Spain -especially his work in the chair of chemistry at the Royal Arts Conservatory of Madrid- and the restrictions presented during his labour according to Spain's level of technological development and the competition of others famous Spanish chemists.
Finally, this paper deals with the first scientific Casaseca's contact with Cuba through Ramón de la Sagra in the Royal Botanical Garden of Havana |
