| Summary: | The liberal reform of the 1880's in Costa Rica was decisive in the history of this Central American country and was the basis of a good part of its background until the 1940's. In particular, the educational reform, carried out under the supervision of the Secretary of Public Education, Mauro Fernandez, completely established priorities in this sector.
